EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. (Nov. 12, 2018) – 84 Lumber has announced unique plans for a toy drive to support children in need this holiday season. The building materials supplier is encouraging associates and the public to donate toys to help stuff its 160-square-foot “Degsy” tiny house. The toy drive will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. between buildings 1 and 2 at the company’s Team Headquarters in Eighty Four, Pa. A tent will be located outside the tiny house with snacks and hot drinks for those who donate. Participants will also be entered into a drawing for tickets to an upcoming Penguins game.
84 Lumber is hosting the “Stuff the Degsy” event in conjunction with its 2018 Stuff-A-Bus sponsorship. The annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign, hosted by iHeartMedia’s 96.1 KISS, is a days-long toy drive that attempts to stuff as many school buses as possible with donations for the Marine Toys for Tots program. The Degsy will be open for tours throughout the festivities, set to take place Nov. 26–30.
“We wanted to do something different this year to encourage more people to donate,” said Amy Smiley, vice president of marketing at 84 Lumber. “When we decided that we would take the Degsy to Stuff-A-Bus, we thought, ‘Before we stuff the buses, we can stuff the tiny house.’ Anything extra we can do to support kids in need is a positive.”
The company is accepting only new and unwrapped toys at the “Stuff the Degsy” event. All donations will be transported to the Stuff-A-Bus headquarters outside of HomeGoods in Robinson.
84 Lumber’s Team Headquarters is located at 1019 Route 519, Eighty Four, Pa., 15330.
