84 Lumber, the nation’s largest privately-held building materials supplier, is continuing its 2021 expansion plans to help fill the increasing demand for engineered and manufactured wood products around the country. Today, the company announced its newest dedicated truss plant opening in Statesville, North Carolina.
The new component plant primarily manufactures roof trusses and floor trusses. Located at 3210 Taylorsville Rd, the 34,000 square foot plant is fully automated and outfitted with the latest design software, computerized saws, a trackless gantry system and laser projection equipment. The facility opened at the end of June with 15 associates and plans to grow to 30 associates by the end of the year.
“With this new truss plant, we will now be able to fill the need for engineered and manufactured wood products across the Charlotte metropolitan area,” said Rory ONeill, area manager for 84 Lumber Components. “The facility will allow us to grow and strengthen our partnerships with new and existing customers.”
Component manufacturing is an important part of 84 Lumber’s business. The company has invested substantially in opening new facilities and upgrading equipment at existing locations over the past five years. And now, as the company continues to expand its presence nationwide, it also expects to create component facilities within several planned new 84 Lumber stores. Manufacturing centers enable the company to support its customers and stores as well as give 84 Lumber associates even more opportunities for growth.
“In addition to investing in state-of-the-art equipment, we also separate ourselves from competition by investing in our people here at 84 Lumber,” said ONeill. “The company’s extensive training program allows people, like myself, to grow from an entry level position to being responsible for an entire store to managing an entire region. We are now hiring at our new Statesville plant, as well as in most of our stores across the country.”
