Supporting and Honoring Our Veterans
At 84 Lumber, we have deep respect for the men and women who have served our country, and we're committed to giving back in meaningful ways.
A purple-painted parking space, reserved for injured combat veterans, can be found at each location nationwide. This small but powerful gesture is dedicated to the Wounded Warriors Family Support program, and it all started with one passionate employee whose idea moved the entire company.
84 Lumber partners with organizations across the country to bring real support and resources to veterans in the communities we call home, particularly throughout the month of May during the company's annual "Operation Appreciation" campaign. 84 Lumber is also proud to offer a 10% military discount year-round.
Serving those who have served us is an on-going initiative that represents who we are as a company. To learn more, visit our Military Friendly Employer page.
Building Hope Through our Donations Program
Through the Building Hope program, 84 Lumber actively supports local, regional, and national charitable organizations, including volunteer fire departments, chapters of the Red Cross, United Way, Habitat for Humanity, the Boy Scouts, St. Jude Dream Homes, and our nation’s military veterans.
With a passion that starts from the ground up, our long-standing commitment to the community is evident at each of our 320 locations. Each year, we donate more than $1 million to a variety of charitable causes, and we are proud to support the communities that support us.
Help us continue to identify opportunities where we can give back by submitting a donation request on our Donations Page.
Our Platform, Our Purpose
84 Lumber is proud to use its platform to spread awareness for things that are important to us and our communities.
For the last decade, 84 Lumber's "Going Pink" initiative has reflected an ongoing commitment to supporting breast cancer patients, survivors, and research in the communities we serve. We've partnered with a number of organizations over the years, providing care packages to hospital patients, donating to research organizations, and changing to pink branding throughout the month of October.
84 Lumber, a certified woman-owned company, also celebrates Women's History Month and Women in Construction week through initiatives such as spotlighting female associates, sponsoring the EmpowerHER grant in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Penguins (gifting $25,000 to a Western Pennsylvania-based woman-owned business), and supporting opportunities for women in the construction industry.
These are simply a few examples of 84 Lumber's commitment to community. Whether you're an associate or a customer, if there's a cause close to your heart, we're always open to listening and finding ways to make a difference together.
